Service Description

Thursdays 5:45-8:15pm, August 8th - September 12th 6-weeks of wheel throwing designed for those individuals who are already acclimated with wheel throwing, but want to further their skills and take it to the next level. - 25 lbs of clay - 6-weeks of 2.5 hours of instruction - Unlimited use of the studio during open studio hours - Firing fees - Glazes Week 1: Darting Week 2: Carving Students will be exploring the possibilities at the wheel vs not, how you can combine the two. When certain textures work better, what we're looking for to know the timing is good, what tools work better than others, carving technique Week 3: Altering Altered rims, altering cylinders halfway and then shaping to see how they change (we can focus on doing this just with the form but for my class we also added slip, added texture and then continued to shape the pot), wrapping pots with a string and then continuing to shape, changing wheel direction mid throw to see how it changes the form/texture, shaping narrow spiral cylinders, intentionally collapsing cylinders in areas Week 4: Piercing Students will focus on lanterns, collandars/berry bowls Week 5: Slip & Underglaze Students will focus on using slip and underglaze to bring texture to their pieces and how to use oxides and glazes to accentuate those textures. Week 6: Glazing Overview: All work must be glazed for final firing by the end of class*. DOUBLE CHECK all work to make sure there is NO GLAZE on the bottoms.
